The drive time from Kigali to Bwindi, where you will trek gorillas, is only between 4-5 hours as opposed to the 8-9 hours drive from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The gorilla habituation experience can only be done in Bwindi Forest. Rwanda has not yet introduced a similar activity. Gorilla habituation is the gradual process of introducing the gorillas to human presence. Thus, the four-hour activity can introduce the visitor to most activities, including nesting, in which these gentle giants are involved.
Upon your arrival at the airport/Entebbe or Kigali, meet our driver guide and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive is enjoyable, and the scenic views of Uganda and Rwanda are exceptional. The drive from Kigali to Bwindi takes roughly 4 hours, while Entebbe to Bwindi is a full-day drive, but it is worth it.
After breakfast, with a packed lunch, transfer to the park headquarters in Rushaga for a pre-habituation briefing. You will then hike into the jungle to be with mountain gorillas. Spend four hours training wild gorillas to make them used to human presence. You will hike with a team of doctors, conservationists, and researchers.
On this day, check out of the lodge and transfer back to Kigali. Depending on your flight timing, you can take a Kigali City tour, which includes visits to notable sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center. Then, your guide will take you to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
