About Nyungwe Forest National Park
This ancient montane rainforest in southwest Rwanda is a biodiversity hotspot and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (designated in 2023). Covering 970 square kilometers, Nyungwe is one of Africa's oldest forests and home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, and over 300 bird species, many endemic to the Albertine Rift.
